Germany, born and raised.
Yes, I do speak German, I do not drink a lot of beer and I am not in love with The Hoff.
I used to work at the German Cancer Research Center and University of Heidelberg in fruit fly laboratories specializing in microinjections with fly embryos. I enjoyed working in the science field but thought there had to be more in life than that 9 to 5 job, the same town and the same ole faces every single day.
I had been thinking about moving to the US since I was 16ish. I finally immigrated to Atlanta Georgia in 2005 and love it.
When I first moved to the US I was bored to death without having a full time job. I decided to invest in my first SLR, sat in the backyard taking pictures of squirrels.
Soon after, I saw an ad in a local tattoo magazine looking for interns. I thought to my self that I had nothing to lose and applied with my portfolio of squirrels. I ended up getting hired right away having to cover a live band at a venue in Atlanta the very next night. Back then I had never photographed a concert, did not know my way around and barely knew more than how to turn my camera on.
Long story short, it all worked out great. Within the next two years I had shot numerous well known bands, tattoo conventions and models scattered through out the south. It was a fun learning by doing process.
Oh yeah and obviously my logo is in honor of those cute little fuzzy squirrels that inspired me to snap away.
12 national and international magazine covers
I recently started painting (acrylics). I have finished about 6 canvases so far.
I will be posting pictures on my blog very soon.
